Savannah Hall’s grandmother made her a blanket.  She made her last blanket when she felt her hand’s losing strength.  Savannah’s grandmother made her the blanket so that Savannah could give it to her children.  The blanket was in a house fire.  She lost everything in her home.  It took her grandmother 4-5 months to make the blanket because she was losing strength in her hands.  She had Parkinson’s disease.  Savannah had the blanket for 10 years.  Savannah’s grandmother made blankets all her life.  Savannah kept the blanket in a hope chest.  When the house burned down she lost all of it.  She now has it on a quilt rack.  The only other object that is special to her is her wedding ring.

“I was raised by my grandmother and this is a blanket she crocheted for me.” — Savannah Hall

“My grandmother was always very aware that she would pass while I was still alive.  And she was a very blunt woman.  So she would tell me, ‘I’m not going to be living very long.’  So she made this when she felt her hands losing their strength.  It was the last blanket she ever made.  And she made it for me so I could give it to my children.” — Savannah Hall

“This blanket was in a house fire.  I lost everything in my home, and the firefighters were asking us if there was anything that they could retrieve for us before everything absolutely turned to ash.  And I said I wanted this blanket.  So they went back into my home and got it for me before it burned up.” — Savannah Hall
